John Denver is a popular singer and songwriter who has been able to touch many by his lyrics. Most of his songs have roots in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico he fell in the love of Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. Denver's famous anthems about Colorado have inspired many people to move to the state. G. Brown the curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated the following: John Denver was by far one of the top performers who embodies Colorado. Denver was the Hall of Fame's first ever inductee. To many, Denver is the Colorado image. Through my many travels, I have met many people who are not from Colorado. They will say, "Oh John Denver!" When they hear you come from Colorado. Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's top 10 hits following a performance with a small folk bands. It was co-written by and produced by Bill Danoff. Danoff created the track in conjunction with Johnny Cash in mind but when Denver saw an early rendition immediately, he realized it was destined to be the next hit single. Just a few days after singing to an enthusiastic crowd on the streets of Washington D.C., the artist recorded the song.
